Positive feedback and peer praise has bolstered spirits at Holker IT – since the introduction of their employee of the quarter initiative.
Carl Smith-Wilkinson was crowned the first winner at the Burnley IT company after votes from the workforce were compiled.
Carl, Senior Service Desk Engineer, was singled out for ‘going the extra mile’ with customers to resolve issues and helping to train the next generation of support staff.
Matthew Phillipson, Head of Service at Holker, initiated the awards. He said: “The employee of the quarter awards recognises our people for doing great work.
“Holker is a growing business, so we wanted to make sure nothing was missed, and all employees felt valued.
“Feedback has also been passed on to those who were nominated, even if they didn’t win.”
Amongst the votes, one employee said: “Since I started my Holker journey, I have realised that Carl really is the ‘go to guy’ to get things resolved. He always has the client at heart and always goes the extra mile.”
Another said he is “an absolute pleasure to work with” while another said he steps up to the plate and takes ownership of issues to ensure client issues are dealt with promptly and thoroughly.
He was also praised for his clear communication to both the customer and internal team regarding progress.
Carl, who became the customers’ point for contact for all project-related queries, thanked his peers for their feedback and said the awards are a great way to recognise the hard work the team and individuals have put in over the past quarter.
Speaking about the new accolade, Carl said: “I think the new employee of the quarter competition will further boost morale and recognise the hard work the team put in.”
Carl has received an Amazon voucher and will have his name engraved on a new Holker trophy.
The next award will be presented at the end of September.
