Here at Holker IT, we pride ourselves on being ‘quick off the mark’ for clients, but we took that philosophy to a different level this week with speeds comparable to Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton!
Our ace team swapped keyboards for dashboards and went head-to-head with dozens of companies across the UK in the annual Toshiba Authorised Business Partners Karting Cup.
The prestigious event was hosted at the famed Daytona track in Milton Keynes with the gruelling two-hour endurance race including multiple driver changes and pit stops.
The Holker team finished in a very respectable seventh place with our managing director Matthew Metcalfe – dubbed the ‘Ginger Stig’ for the day – just two seconds short of the time set by former World Champion and British favourite Lewis Hamilton on one lap of the track!
However, there were mixed fortunes for the rest of the team, named the Tokyo Drifters from Burnley…
Whilst Paul Jameson (Tubby Two Dinners) was another speed demon just half a second behind Matthew, James Mchugh (James Mac) caused a seven-car pile up and Fergal Murphy (Fragal Rock) gave a steward quite the scare with some questionable driving!
