There is no hiding place for Manchester companies against the increasing threat of ‘cyber attack’.
That was the stark warning given to business owners at a special seminar held in Sale and organised by ourselves and NatWest bank.
Dozens of NatWest business and personal customers heard that a staggering 90% of UK companies have been victims of cyber crime in the past year – many of them more than once!
Matthew Metcalfe, managing director at Holker IT, explained the dangers involved when firms fail to pay due attention to system security.
“Cyber attacks are happening right here, right now and cyber criminals are becoming more and more sophisticated,” said Matthew. “Anyone who feels it won’t happen to them is living outside reality.”
“Protection that may have been good enough a year or so ago is no longer sufficient. It is imperative, therefore, that businesses fully understand the size and scale of the threat and take the necessary action.”
Kim Ogle, premier banking manager at NatWest (Sale) said: “We strive to keep our customers – business and personal – fully aware of the perils posed by hackers and to guide them on how best to protect their networks, data, systems and staff.
“Cyber security is clearly of great importance and the presentation from Holker IT was very well received. It was enlightening to hear an expert take on what is the biggest threat to business these days.”
