From fighter jets to sports cars, Mark Holden is well accustomed to life in the fast lane … so who better to become the driving force behind Holker IT?
Having spent five years in the Royal Navy and close on two decades in the motor industry, Mark is now bringing his considerable management experience to technology specialists Holker IT.
Leyland-born Mark, 42, will head up the business development team here whilst also ensuring the company expands its commercial operation across the region.
Mark has a decorated CV and, during his time as a naval airman, he was awarded a General Service Medal for his contribution in the Gulf War.
On leaving the forces in 2000, Mark switched his attention to the motor trade and held senior management posts at two major dealerships in Knutsford and Burnley, enjoying 13 years success with Land Rover.
Now he is journeying in a new direction following a chance conversation with Holker IT managing director Matthew Metcalfe.
“It was time for a change and to test myself with something different,” said Mark, a former pupil at Balshaw High School. “Just speaking with Matthew made me really fancy a crack at the IT industry.
“Holker IT is clearly an innovative company and the project is very appealing, but it was the genuine passion of Matthew and the team here that sold the job to me. Over the years I have developed a good knowledge of the ‘ins and outs’ of business with customer care always top of my agenda.”
Matthew Metcalfe added: “Mark is the perfect fit as we look to move the business forward. His business background is very impressive and we believe he is the right man to lead our team and give us a strong commercial edge.”
